Privacy policy
Your swing stays on your phone.
Last updated 13 September 2026
This policy covers the SwingMirror iOS app and the website golfswingmirror.com. It is written to be read. If anything is unclear, write to support@golfswingmirror.com.
The app
No account, no server
SwingMirror has no sign-in, no account and no server of its own. The app makes no network requests. It contains no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking code. There is nothing for us to receive, and we receive nothing.
Camera
The camera permission is used to see you. Frames from the front camera are analysed on the phone by Apple’s body-tracking framework to recognise a swing, and kept in memory in a rolling buffer of the most recent five seconds so that a swing can be replayed. Frames older than that are discarded continuously. No frame is stored on disk or sent anywhere by the app.
Photos
When you make the save gesture during a replay, the app encodes the frames of that swing into a video and adds it to your Photos library. That is the only time anything is written. The app asks for add-only access to Photos, which lets it add a video without reading the rest of your library. Saved clips are yours: they live in Photos under Apple’s terms and you delete them there.
Last swing
The most recent captured swing is kept as a temporary file inside the app so that Review can play it. It is replaced by the next swing and removed when the app is deleted.
Body tracking
Joint positions are computed by Apple’s Vision framework on the device and used only, in the moment, to decide which phase of a swing you are in and whether your left hand is raised. They are not stored, and no biometric template or identity is derived from them.
The website
Contact form
If you write to us, we store your name, email address, chosen topic, optional device description, your message and your browser’s user-agent string in our database so that we can answer you and recognise a follow-up. We keep support conversations for up to two years, then delete them.
Release list
If you join the release list we store your email address and the date. We use it to send the message you asked for. You can ask us to remove you at any time.
Cookies
The public site sets no cookies. A single session cookie is used only by the site’s staff area to keep its administrator signed in.
Hosting
The website and its database run on a server we operate within the European Union. Rate-limiting and error logs are held in memory or for a short period and are not shared.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to its use. For the app the answer is that we hold nothing. For the website, email support@golfswingmirror.com and we will answer within a month. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Children
The app and site are not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
